Life in Smyrna – Smyrna, TN Real Estate
Smyrna feels absolutely drenched in history. One of its main attractions is the Sam DavisHouse, an estate currently run by a board of concerned citizens who want to preserve the history of this civil-war plantation, and the tale is that Sam Davis, being accused of being a confederate spy, offered to give up his own life rather than reveal information that could compromise the Confederacy to his Union captors. The town was also historically benefited from being an important stop on the railroad that runs through it, as Smyrna used to serve as a refuel and resupply station, too.
Smyrna has a lot more to offer than just history, though, such as its having no less than ten beautiful green parks, along with a golf course and seven miles of walking trails, and even an outdoor water park. Children’s sports league programs are also available and heavily recommended, as fun for the whole family. It’s also in a very central location, with easy access to Nashville less than 20 minutes away.
Smyrna still retains a small town feel, and is home to such family-friendly dining and activities as Darlin’s Bar and Grill, a roller skating rink, and a local antique shop all lend the town a very striking charm that is quite difficult to shake. In 2007, it was voted one of the best places in the United States to retire, and current industry here is mostly focused around the Nissan car factory, which has begun producing electric cars.
